Anyone who’s a friend or follower of this blog knows I go hard for new talent, especially when it involves someone from my generation who’s doing their thing–the RIGHT way. Insert artist Destined Universal.
The 20 year old singer/songwriter is new to the music scene, but he’s already making waves, that are sure to turn into musical tsunamis in no time. The Philly native first dropped on the music scene as the co-producer of the tribute project: Legendary: A Decade of Stacie Orrico in October 2010. I recently featured a post on that project that can be located HERE.
Destined Universal, as he’s known, has worked along side the likes of twin hip-hop duo Nina Sky (composed of Nicole and Natalie Albino) who are signed to Polo Grounds/J Records. He’s also worked alongside another young mover and shaker, JoJo, another multi-platinum artist who once hailed from the Interscope family. Needless to say, he’s made some great connections in a short amount of time. In fact, Destined worked with both Nina Sky and JoJo last summer at the 2011 Girls Who Rock benefit concert for She’s The First.
He’s become quite the talk of the internet. In November 2011, celebrity teen blogger Daric Richie (aka Baz Bendell), founder of the Bazaar Daily News/Bazaar Media Group, Inc., endorsed Destined as his protege, publishing several features and interviews. This amazing social media buzz got even more eyes (or should I say EARS) looking (and listening) in this young talents direction.
His style is described as having a dance floor vibe…..convincing you to the dance floor and then hitting you over the head with a tinge of R&B and Soul with pop leanings.
Destined Universal is on the journey to living up to his name: Destined to be Universal. This month, the rising star is scheduled to release his first international record, “Luv U Betta,” which will drop in the U.K. (released January 27th), along with his single, “Love Life,” which will hit the U.S. market on January 31st. His highly anticipated EP, entitled Love, Pain, & The Dancefloor, is rumored for an March 2012 release, per his manager, Joseph Rodriguez.
