Behind the Scenes of Vogue Italia: Haute Mess Shoot by Steven Meisel Feat. Coco Rocha

I’m a huge fan of Supermodel Coco Rocha. The girl is bad! She can do about 50 Vogue-ready poses in 30 seconds (See Video HERE).

Coca Rocha can be seen in the March 2012 Vogue Italia for a shoot thats actually, rather ghetto, but by design….and I love the concept. She, along with Joan Smalls, Jessica Stam, Karen Elson, Abbey Lee Kershaw, Lindsey Wixson, Daphne Groeneveld, and Guinevere van Seenus were photographed by Steven Meisel and given a ton of wardrobe that you’d find at some the popular clubs in the hood. It’s the Vogue cover story called “Haute Mess,” which is so appropriately named.

The shoot has garnered some negative attention from skeptics, critics, and the uber politically correct who are calling the shoot racist, since the models, who are mostly caucasian, are dressed in styles made popular by the African American and Latina communities. Particularly some of the hairstyles that have been made popular in black hair shows. I didn’t see any patronizing in the images, if anything, it was more of a celebration of those subcultures in fashion. But I digress.
