Songstress and newly svelte singer Jennifer Hudson graces the cover of the December 11/January 12 Ebony Magazine–looking as graceful and diva-ish as she possibly can. The Chicago native gets candid with the ethnic glossy about the drama and media attention surrounding her weight loss, particularly, the public opinion of Joy Behar, of The View. Behar is apparantly upset that Hudson has no qualms about announcing she is a size 0 while Behar feels this is giving a wrong idea to young women on the idea of beauty.
Here’s what Jennifer had to say:
On those upset with her weightloss:
I am going to finally address that size-zero thing that Joy [Behar] said on The View. Hell I wasn’t even on the show. I never said I was a size zero. I got crucified by I don’t know how many people who cussed me out because they said I’m putting out the wrong message and telling people to be a size zero. I got called every name under the sun and was told, ‘You should be ashamed of yourself for talking about being that size.’ Well, honey, when I do say I’m that size, then give me that speech. I never said that.
It’s a tough situation to judge–maybe thats why we shouldn’t try. If Hudson, who used to be a size 18+ is proud about reaching a particular weight loss goal, especially as the spokeswoman for an international weight loss company, is that wrong that she announces she’s met her goal? Even though she claims she has never said that. On the flip side, as a person in the spotlight of America, is it wise to promote a standard or a goal that most of those hearing your announcement will never reach? I don’t know. What do you all think?
The magazine hits shelves November 29th.
