Im super excited. Yesterday Versace featured the men’s collection for Autumn/Winter 2012/2013 and I am beyond impressed. It’s very rare the Euro brand let’s me down, but this go round they really stepped their cookies up!
The luxe brand decided on a masculine influence to the normally softer styled line–capitalizing on the V-shape of the male physique; designing several pants that are slim cut while focusing on the broad shoulders. They made some daring choices by adding fur, multi-colored spattered style clothing, baggy boots all while adding a 2012 flair to some traditional looks like denim, leather, etc.
Essentially the collection taps into several masculine cultures: military, biker, tribal leaders and more conventional authority figures. It features a series of uniform inspired garments in bold colors, prints, all while incorporating Versace-esque things like rhinestones onto bomber jackets or pea coats with brightly colored fur collars, floral printed denim and trompe l’oeil pajamas. The effect is one of a bad boy turned rich boy. Sounds fitting.
